Privacy Policy

This website belongs to Cardio Care, the practice of Dr. (Prof.) Tarun Kumar, an interventional cardiologist who sees patients at the Medanta-Moolchand Heart Centre in Defence Colony, New Delhi. This page explains what the site learns about you, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we'll explain it properly.

We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it. In the words of that Act, we are the "Data Fiduciary" for whatever you share with us through this site.

In short

• You can read every page on this site without telling us who you are.
• We only ask for personal details when you request an appointment or write a review.
• We use those details for that one purpose. We don't sell them and we don't use them for marketing.
• You can ask to see, correct or delete your information whenever you like.

What we collect

Appointment requests

The appointment form asks for your name and phone number. If you want, you can also give us your email address, the service you're asking about, a preferred date and time, and a note for the doctor. When the form is sent, our system also saves the date and time, the page you sent it from, your IP address, and a record that you ticked the consent box.

The note field is free text, so people often mention symptoms or past treatment there. That's fine, and it helps the doctor prepare, but please only share what you're comfortable putting in a web form. A full history will be taken at your consultation anyway.

Reviews you write here

The review form asks for your name, a star rating and your review. Email is optional. We only use it if we need to check something with you, and it is never shown on the site. To block spam we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of your IP address, not the address itself. Every review is read by our team before it goes live, and the name you give is the name that appears next to it.

Reviews from other websites

Some of the reviews on this site come from public listings such as Google. We show them as they appear there, including the reviewer's public name, and label each one with where it came from.

Ordinary browsing

Like nearly every website, our server keeps basic technical logs: IP address, browser type, which pages were requested and when. We use these to fix faults and keep out attackers. If we have Google Analytics switched on, it also records how visitors move around the site. The Cookie Policy goes into that in more detail.

Calls, emails and WhatsApp

If you contact us directly, we'll have your number or email address and whatever you send us. Our email is hosted by Google (Gmail), and WhatsApp messages are handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy terms.

What we use it for

• Calling you back to fix an appointment time.
• Giving the doctor some background before your visit.
• Checking, publishing or declining your review.
• Keeping the site secure and free of spam.
• Seeing, in overall numbers, which pages people find useful (only when analytics is on).
• Meeting any legal obligation we have.

Filling in a form here won't put you on a mailing list. If we ever want to send you anything beyond what you asked for, we'll ask you separately first.

Your consent

The appointment form can't be sent unless you tick the consent box yourself. It is never ticked in advance. Ticking it means you're happy for us to use your details to contact you about that appointment, as this page describes.

You can take that consent back at any time by emailing us. We'll stop using your details and delete the request, unless the law requires us to hold on to it. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we'd already done with it before then.

Who else sees it

Inside the practice, only Dr. Kumar and the few people who manage his appointments. Outside it:

• Our web hosting company stores the site and its database for us. They handle the data only to keep the site running.
• Medanta-Moolchand Heart Centre. Once your appointment is confirmed, the hospital needs your name and phone number to register you. From that point, your medical records are kept by the hospital under its own policies. They are not stored on this website.
• Google, if analytics is switched on, and when the map on our contact page loads.
• YouTube or Vimeo, when you play one of the videos on the site.
• Government or courts, but only if the law requires it, for example under a court order.

We don't sell personal data, rent it out, or share it with advertisers. Some of the services above, Google in particular, may store data on servers outside India.

How long we keep it

• Appointment requests: up to 12 months after we last dealt with you, then deleted.
• Reviews: for as long as the review is on the site. If a review is declined or taken down, we keep a bare record of it so the same review isn't imported again by mistake. Ask us and we'll remove your name and email from that record too.
• Server logs: a few months at most, as set by our hosting company.
• Backups: we back the site up regularly, so something you've asked us to delete may stay in an older backup until that backup is replaced.

How we look after it

The whole site runs over HTTPS, so what you type is encrypted on its way to us. The admin area needs a password, locks after repeated failed logins, and signs people out when they've been idle. Only a handful of people have access, and what they do is logged. No system can promise to be perfectly secure. If there's ever a breach that affects your data, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we're using it;
• correct anything that's wrong or out of date;
• delete your data;
• let someone you name exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.

Just email us. We may need to confirm it's really you first, usually by calling the number you gave us. We'll reply within 30 days, and in most cases much sooner.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your request, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. We'd be grateful for the chance to put it right first, though.

Children

This site isn't meant to be used by children on their own. If you're booking for someone under 18, a parent or guardian should fill in the form. If we find out a child has sent us personal details without that, we'll delete them.

Other websites

We link to other sites, including the hospital, our social media pages and video platforms. They have their own privacy policies, and we can't answer for what they do.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change makes a real difference to data we already hold about you, we'll try to tell you directly.
